Wild, thrilling, bloody and action-packed, OZPLOITATION films are the ‘alternate’ masterpieces of the Australian cinema story. These pictures broke all the rules and sprung from the introduction of the R classification certificate in 1971, a change that opened the door to progressive, gratuitous & explicit genre cinema. Drawing on the wellspring of demand from drive-in and grindhouse theatres worldwide, these films were almost always the first to have made their money back, yet they’ve never been seriously discussed or recognized in Australian culture, until now.
A truly unique period in Australian Cinema.
