108 Media becomes The Insect King

108 Media has acquired the world-wide rights for the Australian coming of age film, THE INSECT KING. 108 Media is currently pre-selling the film at Cannes Marche du Film. The film’s Executive Producer, Micahel Wrenn is also representing the project at Canne.

THE INSECT KING will be written and directed by first time filmmaker Priscilla Cameron.

Golden Globe Nominee Melissa George (The Good Wife, The Amityville Horror), Sophie Lowe (Autumn Blood, Adore) and Taika Waititi (The Green Lantern, What We Do in The Shadows, Boy) are all attached to star in this project. The story follows Fin, a motherless 13-year-old boy, who falls in love with an exotic 40-year-old woman only to discover that he is in competition with his father for her affections.

A seductive heart warming tale with a blend of unique visual effect techniques and beautiful imagery, THE INSECT KING delivers a heartwarming story of forgiveness and selfless love.

The deal was brokered by Bridget Callow-Wright of Midwinter Films and Jordan Nutson of 108 Media.

“THE INSECT KING is an avant-garde masterpiece,” says Nutson, “It brings together comedy, drama, romance and fantasy to create a fairytale exploration of the magic of love.”

Larry Darling Jr. of Horror Homework says is, “…at the top of my must see list for this year. As well, Fugly! From stand-up comedian John Leguizamo about a comic's near-death experience which causes him to revisit his personal and professional highs and lows.

Short synopsis
Fin, a motherless 13-year-old boy, falls in love with an exotic 40-year-old woman only to discover that he is in competition with his father for her affections. A battle between father and son destroys their fragile world but through forgiveness Fin is able to relinquish his goddess and in return gains a family.
