$44,000 scholarship for budding filmmakers

Press release from IFS

International Film School Sydney (IFSS) – the home of daring cinema – today announced the opening of its exciting competition for one talented individual to receive a full $44,000 two year scholarship to study at IFSS.

Head of School at IFSS, Duncan Thompson said, “There is so much undiscovered talent in this country and this scholarship competition is a great way of identifying and nurturing this talent to help support and expand the Australian film industry.”

Budding film makers are being encouraged to submit a short film of their making to the theme ‘Be Daring’.

Entries will be judged on originality, creativity and overall technical competence.

“This is the second year we’re running this competition and if entries are anything like we received last year, our judges will have a very hard decision to make,” Mr Thompson said.

Last year’s winner Aimee‐Lee Curran has found that the scholarship has enriched her life, “IFSS is a great creative environment; one that nurtures the talents of its students and helps us to establish our artistic voices. This is the first time in my life I feel like I am doing exactly what I should be doing.”

Entries close 21 October 2011 and a winner will be announced on 30 November 2011.

IFSS is part of a new generation of independent film schools which immerses students onto every aspect of film making. It aims to transform students into fearless cinematic artists with dynamic storytelling skills, technical excellence and a distinctive creative voice.
