4K helps Sydney-based distributor sell more than 65 hours of content

Increased interest in 4K documentaries has helped Sydney-based international distributor Flame secure more than 65 hours of sales after MIPTV.

Flames 4K documentary Ancient angkor has been bought by Discovery Channel in Canada, while there was also strong interest in Jet Set and the The Luxury Travel Show, according to a company statement.

Flame has also continued its partnership with Prospero Productions, the Western Australian indie who brought the world Outback Truckers, by securing a sale to Discovery Asia of their new series, Railroad Australia

Canadian series, Restoration Garage, from Pixcom Productions has been picked up by the Australian digital channel 7Mate, while Singapore’s public broadcaster, Mediacorp, has taken two titles hosted by successful New Zealand psychologist/scientist Nigel Latta produced by Razor Films – Nigel Latta Blows Stuff Up and Is Sugar the New Fat?

Australia’s Foxtel Lifestyle Food Channel has picked up a third season of the highly successful and long running UK institution, Saturday Kitchen, produced by Cactus TV along with  Lyndey Milan’s Summer Baking Secrets, Before I Kick the Bucket and The Big House Reborn.

A package of history content has been picked up by Foxtel’s History Channel including the BBC’s Highwaymen, Pirates & Rogues; A&E’s The Herbert Brothers plus Heroes of the Somme; Tony Robinson's Walking Through History, series 1 and the fourth season of Grand Tours of the Scottish Isles.

Israel’s Ananey Channels have come on board to acquire a number of titles including three from Welsh indie producer Wales and Co Media – the four-part personal make-over series hosted by Irish rugby star Alfie Thomas, Run For Your Life; Before I Kick the Bucket and How to Live to 100 – along with two series of The Shelbourne from Ireland’s Waddell Media; Donal Skehan’s Kitchen Hero: Donal’s Irish Feast; and travel series, Jet Set.
