Foreshadow follows the story of Jesse Milton (Burford), a surfer enjoying the high life until he finds his latest girlfriend dead.
When police close their investigation, Jesse decides to seek out the murderer himself – a process which sees him come face to face with demonic powers.

It is Burford’s debut feature film, though the pop-star has already been recognised for his acting talents after earning five-star reviews for his lead role in the musical Rock of Ages. He was also nominated for a Helpmann Award and took out the Broadway Australia Award for Best Lead Actor in a Musical.

Of his involvement in Foreshadow, Burford said, “I am so excited to be involved in this project, and as an actor, I'm really looking forward to the challenges it brings. That my first feature role will be shot in my home town is a huge bonus.

“There is a really talented and committed team working on this film and the energy is contagious. I can't wait to undergo the physical transformation required for the role, but mostly I'm eager to sink my teeth into a genre that has long been one of my favourites.”

Fighting demons alongside Burford is Drift star and Silver Logie nominee Myles Pollard, who will play Detective Monaghan.

Since graduating from NIDA in 1998, Pollard has appeared in many Australian television series including Water Rats, Home and Away, All Saints, Packed to the Rafters and Underbelly 2, but he is most noted for his six-year stint on the acclaimed series McLeod’s Daughters.

“The supernatural thriller is one of my favourite genres and the chance to play a demon wrestling cop was impossible to turn down," he said.

Pollard and Burford will be supported by a strong cast which includes Andrea Addison, Melanie Lyons, Tawni Bryant, Kyle Morrison, Ben Purser, Nic McRobbie, James Hagan, Sam Davenport, Clara Helms and Hannah Price.

Principal photography will commence in and around metropolitan Perth on 4 February 2013.

The producers are yet to announce a deal with a distributor.
