Spirit Films cleans up at State ACS Awards

Press release from Gray Management Group

Last weekend saw the 2010 SA and WA Australian Cinematographers Society (ACS) Awards at the Palace Nova Cinema, Adelaide.

In an evening that recognises the esteemed talents of the states’ premier cinematographers, a few of Spirit Films’ own showed the others how it’s done, walking away with a bundle of awards to add to the mantle.

State President and Director of Photography (DOP) extraordinaire Ernie Clark ACS won a gold award for the Rural Bank “Symphony” TVC.

With post production by sister company, Oasis Post, and a highly creative soundtrack by Martyn Zub, this spot transformed everyday farming into a symphony of clinks, bangs and moos. Ernie will now progress through to the National Awards for Cinematography to be held in 2011.

Aaron Gully picked up a well-deserved gold for the Hilltop Hoods’ Parade of the Dead DVD.

This was a huge collaboration between Spirit Films, Oasis Post, Oasis DVD and Kojo Pictures, and a testament to the amazing potential of the well-oiled Kojo machine.

Aaron did a tremendous job of making the whole thing look brilliant, from the eerie setting of the Adelaide Gaol to the vibrant concert.

Paula Smith, Executive Producer of Spirit Films says, “Our team’s performance at the awards is an absolute credit to their talent and dedication to producing outstanding work. I’m delighted that they have been recognised by the national cinematographic community, proving yet again that they are among the industry’s best.”

Aaron Gully also scored a silver for the Kamikaze music video, a gold for short film The Edge of Reality and another silver for Jamshop’s ‘Ampersand’ TVC for Uniting Church.

ndustry young gun Maxx Corkindale also did well out of the evening, picking up gold for the 2009 Anglicare Christmas Appeal TV commercial, produced through Spirit Films, amid a bevy of other awards.
