Adam Spencer and Julia Zemiro to host Tropfest broadcast

Press release from Tropfest

The 19th year of Movie Extra Tropfest is shaping up to be an even bigger and better experience for both festival goers and television viewers alike; delivering a huge afternoon of entertainment including an exciting new host, a legendary home grown band and all the glamour and gossip from the red carpet, happening live in front of audiences across the nation and on the Movie Extra channel on 20 February 2011 from 7:30pm AEDT.

Comedy duo Adam Spencer and Julia Zemiro are this year's event and broadcast hosts, entertaining audiences throughout the evening. Zemiro, a two time Tropfest best actress award winner, and radio favourite Spencer a long-time Tropfest host and supporter, are speaking exclusively to all the A-List guests, filmmakers, celebrity judges, and much more throughout the night. Movie Extra Tropfest brings back vintage rock with 90s legend the Baby Animals headlining Australia's favourite short film night of nights. Fresh from a star turn on the national A Day On The Green Tour with INXS and Train, the Aussie rock sensations, led by the powerful front woman Suze DeMarchi, will belt out a few of the country's favourite songs – “Early Warning”, “Rush You” and “Painless”. Movie Extra hosts Lizzy Lovette and James Tobin will capture all the action live from the red carpet as Australia's film industry gathers, bringing audiences full event commentary and red carpet interviews with filmmakers and VIP guests.

Viewers at home and at the live outdoor sites won't miss a beat of all the insider fun and entertainment.

John Polson, Director and Founder of Tropfest says providing a great atmosphere for festival goers and home viewers has been one of the most important elements to Tropfest's success.

“Year on year Tropfest delivers some of the best short films to Australian crowds and this year we're offering up some of Australia's biggest personalities to keep the festivities alive. Julia and Adam will make people watching the broadcast at home feel like they're right in amongst the action, and I'm ecstatic the Baby Animal's are closing festival night.”

Movie Extra Tropfest is screened live on Sunday 20 February to an anticipated audience of 150,000 at free outdoor public events across Australia, and televised live on Subscription TV channel Movie Extra to an audience in excess of 235,000.
