AIDC: Who’s Watching in 2009

[Press Release by AIDC]

The 14th Australian International Documentary Conference (AIDC) will be held in Adelaide in February next year.

The largest and most important event of its kind in Australasia, AIDC is a ‘Must-Do’ event for anyone involved in documentary-making. Next February, over 600 filmmakers, producers, commissioning editors, sales agents and distributors from around the globe will converge on the Hilton Hotel, for three days of intense discussion and debate, deal making and screenings.

Vital to the success of any documentary maker, buyer or distributor is knowledge about their audience. The theme of AIDC 2009 is “Who’s Watching?”. Conference delegates will be able to gather intelligence from national and international experts in the know on who the audience is, how they are accessing factual product, and what their viewing patterns really mean?

For the first time, the conference will also include a strand covering Serious Gaming and Interactive Content. This strand aims to initiate relationships between filmmakers, television producers, games developers, web application designers and investors, and inject new ideas and concepts into the mix.

AIDC 2009 will also present many avenues for factual content makers to pursue in getting help to make their project a success. The popular MeetMarket presented in association with Screen Australia allows film makers to meet one-on-one with interested buyers & investors in a supported environment. There will also be various pitch competitions, supported by major broadcasters, offering cash prizes and development opportunities.
