Alycia Debnam-Carey signs on to Steve Quale tornado film

Australian actor Alycia Debnam-Carey will play the lead role in Final Destination 5 director Steve Quale's new film.

The project, which was previously known as Category 6 but is currently untitled, is a found-footage film which follows a group of high schoolers dealing with aftermath of a devastating tornado.

Debnam-Carey will play a character called Kaitlyn in the film for US studio New Line Cinema.  The actor's Australian agency, ICS, confirmed the news to IF before the news was reported by Deadline.

The film is Quale's first feature as a director. Previously, he has worked as second unit director for a number of films including Avatar and Titanic.

Debnam-Carey will next be seen in horror thriller The Occult alongside Jennifer Carpenter (Dexter) and Rufus Sewell (Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter).
