Filmed in various locations within Australia, the US and Japan over seven months and edited for a year, writer/performer/director Chris Lilley (Summer Heights High, We Can Be Heroes) amps up his acutely observed character-based documentary-comedy style to create his new 12-part series Angry Boys with long-time producing partner Laura Waters (Princess Pictures).
With three broadcasters in three different countries, this time with the addition of HBO as a co-producer, the ABC, and a pre-sale to the BBC, it was the first time in Australia that a partnership of this magnitude had been made to acquire a show.
Angry Boys is a look at today’s boys: their influences, their pressures, their dreams and ambitions.
