Animated Nine series The Skinner Boys gets green light for production

SLR Productions is set to begin work on new animated adventure series The Skinner Boys for broadcasters Nine Network Australia and SRTL.

The series is about the three teenage grandsons of world explorer Augustus Skinner, who has died, leaving them his old mansion and its contents. The Skinner boys soon discover that they are now guardians of the lost secrets: a collection of unique artefacts across the world that possess incredible powers.

SLR Productions chief executive and series' executive producer Suzanne Ryan said she was thrilled to be working with several top-notch companies including co-production partners Telegael, Top Draw Animation; Home Plate Entertainment; and ZDF Enterprises, which is handling international sales.

“I am thrilled to be working with the Nine Network Australia and SRTL on this dynamic animated series in conjunction with co-production partners Telegael and Top Draw Animation. We have top line partners joining us for The Skinner Boys including Home Plate Entertainment which will undoubtedly ensure the success of the series internationally as well as its relevance to the demographic. Based on an original Australian creation by artist Steve Lyons, The Skinner Boys has a great balance of artistic talent from across the globe and will bring what we feel is strong and universal appeal.”

The 26 x 30 minute children's animation is expected to be completed by 2014.

The Nine Network has previously worked with SLR Productions on the animated children series Gasp! and Deadly.
