Anne Edmonds to raise laughs hosting the SPA Awards

Anne Edmonds.

Stand-up comedian Anne Edmonds, a three-time Barry Award nominee for best show of the Melbourne International Comedy Festival, will bring her wit and repartee as the host of the 2018 Screen Producers Australia Awards.

“Eddo” is a familiar face on TV screens from regular appearances on Network Ten’s Have You Been Paying Attention?, The Project and Hughesy We Have A Problem.

Her turn as beauty and fashion expert Helen Bidou on ABC TV’s Get Krack!n is another highlight.

Last year she created, wrote and starred in The Edge of the Bush, a Scandi-noir inflected comedy series for the ABC’s iview. Produced by Guesswork Television, it is among the nominees for online series production of the year at this year’s SPA Awards.

This year she hosted the Melbourne International Comedy Festival opening night gala broadcast on ABC TV. Her live show ‘Helen Bidou: Enter the Spinnaker Lounge’ garnered her third Barry nod as well as a best comedy performer nomination at the Helpmann Awards.

The 18th annual SPA Awards ceremony will be held at the Forum Theatre, Melbourne, on the final night of Screen Forever on November 22.
