Australian independent feature ‘The Big Noise’ gets international attention

Australian director Dominic Pelosi’s feature film debut The Big Noise has been selected in 11 international film festivals since the film’s completion in August 2012. Directed, photographed, and edited by Pelosi using a self-raised budget and a small crew, this film epitomises independent filmmaking.

''…clockwork orange meets trainspotting… – 4.5 stars''- Rod Beaudoin, Executive Director, Beloit International Film Festival.

The Big Noise follows Morris Falzon who works with his father George in a small law firm in the Inner Western Suburbs of Sydney. With his personal life a mess and the business falling apart, Morris is thrown a lifeline when a dying client reveals he is leaving Morris a small fortune in his will. It seems his luck is about to change. However, when his client stages a miraculous recovery, it seems it’s back to the grindstone…or is it? Morris and George hatch a plan that will either make or break them – literally.

The Big Noise features a cast of largely unknown, and many new, actors including Maurice Marshan as Morris Falzon, Mario Marchioni as George Falzon and William Tinkler as Julian Fuller. The film has won a number of awards including Best Director, Best Actor, and Best Screenplay at the Massachusetts Film Festival, and the Nevada International Film Festival’s Silver Screen Award.
