Autodesk, Inc, a leader in 3D design, engineering and entertainment software, has announced its participation in the fourth annual SIGGRAPH Asia conference. The Asian leg of the world’s premier event for professionals in the computer graphics and animation industries will be held at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Center from 13 – 15 December 2011.

Autodesk Entertainment Creation Suites will be showcased, with demonstrations of how a modern production pipeline can enable industry professionals in Asia to improve performance, enhance productivity and unlock creativity.

In addition to the product showcase, Autodesk will host guest speakers from globally acclaimed production houses, including Lucasfilm, Rising Sun Pictures and Pixar Animation Studio. The speakers will deliver a series of presentations and demonstrations, highlighting their use of Autodesk software in some of the year’s biggest movies, animations and games.

• Ian Cope, Visual Effects and Stereoscopic Producer, Rising Sun Pictures
• Kenneth Huff, Technical Trainer, Lucasfilm Singapore

Earlier this year, Autodesk launched the inaugural Autodesk iiko Experience, a creativity and skill-based competition for animators and modelers in Asia Pacific. Participants were challenged to submit their most creative interpretation of iiko, a fictitious character created by Autodesk. Each participant brought the base model character to life with the help of Autodesk Entertainment Creation Suite.

With more than 200 entries in the open category, one animator from Taiwan and two modelers from Japan and Australia walked away with the grand prize, which includes a trip to SIGGRAPH Asia 2011.

Mike Colombo, Senior Director of Asia Pacific Marketing at Autodesk, said, “The media and entertainment industry is embracing 3D production and delivery, not just in movies but also in television and games. Asian players using Autodesk Entertainment Creation Suites benefit from world-class technology that helps enable the creation of more realistic, engaging and immersive entertainment content, allowing them to compete and thrill audiences around the globe.”

Just like the winners from the Autodesk iiko Experience, all SIGGRAPH Asia attendees will have the opportunity to bring iiko to life. By taking part in the Autodesk Mudbox and Autodesk Motionbuilder software challenges at SIGGRAPH Asia, attendees can experience the software first-hand, and also stand to win prizes from Autodesk, Wacom, HP and AMD.

SIGGRAPH Asia attendees are invited to explore Autodesk’s world-class software solutions daily from 9:30 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. and attend speeches and presentations by industry experts at the Autodesk Theatre, located at Room S227 on Level 2 of the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Center.
