AWG calls for Respect for Writers and New Australian Work

The AWG responds to recent discussion in the media about the sidelining of Australian stories on stage

The Guild wants to unite our members of stage and screen together with their industry colleagues in support of quality new Australian plays, the craft of playwriting, the importance of plays as an integral part of Australian literary culture, and the positive respectful collaboration that requires.

We will be jointly convening a forum for discussion for those committed to that outcome – companies, directors, writers and other industry stakeholders.

There iexists a huge community of people striving for more new, high quality Australian stories on our stages, and it will be constructive dialogue and collaboration which will see us achieve that.
