Captain Flinn and the Pirate Dinosaurs scores BANFF nomination

Press release from Adele Feletto Publicity

The dinosaur and pirate themed series, Captain Flinn and the Pirate Dinosaurs from Australia’s SLR Productions has been selected as a nominee in the 2011 Banff International Pilots competition.

Nominated in the youth and children category, the 52 x 11minute series currently in development will be featured at a special ceremony at the 2011 Banff World Media Festival in Canada next month.

The series recently earned Emmy Award winning and leading children’s entertainment company, SLR Productions two wins at the recent 2011 Cartoons On The Bay Pulcinella Awards International Television and Cross Media Animation Festival in Rapallo, Italy – Best TV Pilot and the prestigious Arlecchino Award for Best Book Based Work.

Executive Producer, Suzanne Ryan said “I am thrilled to see Captain Flinn and the Pirate Dinosaurs recognised by the industry again. Our creative team has worked incredibly hard on this series and it is a real honour for it to be included at the Banff World Media Festival. It again reinforces that pirates and dinosaurs are perennial kid favourites”.

Pirattitude meets silly in these riotous tales of a jam-stealin’ Captain T Rex, Stig the stegosaurus, Dippy the diplodocus, Tricky the triceratops and Terry the pterodactyl and four adventure lovin’ kids Captain Flinn, Pearl, Tom and Violet who teach them a thing or two!

Dinosaurs and pirates come together with wit and cheek in this dino-pirate cartoon series. The series is based on the award winning picture books of the same name by mighty talented Author/Illustrator duo, Giles Andreae and Russell Ayto.

Irreverence, general silliness and flagrant disrespect for pirate dinosaurs wrapped around a message of simple empowerment: sometimes when you face your fear…you’ll notice it’s wearin’ a milk moustache (underneath that eye-patch…arrr).
