Caroline Pitcher appointed Film Victoria CEO
Caroline Pitcher has been named CEO of Film Victoria, succeeding Jenni Tosi.
Currently the GM of commercial and public engagement at Federation Square, Pitcher has a background in the screen industry, including as a former CEO of Ausfilm – a role she held from 2007 to 2009.
Most recently, Pitcher was the national general manager of film and television post-production at Deluxe from 2013 to 2016, and prior to that was the director, marketing and enterprise at Omnilab Media.
She has served on the Film Victoria board since 2012, and previously worked for the agency as general manager of its Melbourne Film Office.
In a statement, Film Victoria chair Ian Robertson called Pitcher “an innovative thinker and strategic leader” who joins the agency with a deep understanding of the local industry.
“Caroline has made a strong contribution to the industry over more than a decade and to the Film Victoria board over the past five years. She has an intimate knowledge of the organisation and the challenges and opportunities ahead for Victoria’s screen industry, and we are thrilled to welcome her back as CEO.”
On her appointment Pitcher said: “I’m delighted to be assuming the leadership of Film Victoria at a time when the Victorian screen industry is performing well. An important continuing role for Film Victoria will be to assist our industry to meet the challenges of a changing environment and take more Victorian‐produced content to the world.
“Our industry is fortunate to have a large number of exceptional producers across film, television, Video‐On‐Demand and digital games; talented craftspeople, directors, writers, visual effects designers, cast and crew with a wonderful track record of success and international acclaim; and a supportive State Government. I’m looking forward to working collaboratively with them all.”
Film Victoria is the first among fellow state screen agencies Screenwest and South Australian Film Corporation – whose respective CEOs Ian Booth and Annabelle Sheehan will also depart by the end of the year – to make a new leadership appointment.
Pitcher begins with Film Victoria in December.
