Freeview is thrilled to welcome the launch of Network Ten’s ELEVEN, Australia’s newest free digital television channel which begins broadcasting today in Network Ten’s five capital city markets.

Freeview also welcomed the start of ELEVEN broadcasts today by Southern Cross Media across regional markets in Queensland, New South Wales, the ACT, Victoria and Tasmania; Spencer Gulf and Broken Hill; and broadcasts in Mildura by Mildura Digital Television, the joint venture company owned by Prime Media Group and WIN Television. Southern Cross Media will also offer ELEVEN to those regions with access to the VAST satellite service.

Freeview CEO Robin Parkes said: “ELEVEN’S launch marks a great day for TV viewers.

“Millions of Australians right across the country can now enjoy yet another free digital multi-channel. There are now ten free digital multi-channels that have been launched since Freeview was formed just over two years ago, a period that has seen an incredible expansion in the available choice of free, quality TV entertainment,” she said.

ELEVEN is the new exclusive free-to-air home of two iconic programs, Neighbours and The Simpsons, and will cater to a distinctly youthful audience with an exciting line-up of all-new episodes including Dexter, Futurama, The Office, Supernatural, Californication, Smallville, Nurse Jackie, 90210 and So You Think You Can Dance US.

ELEVEN also has access to a huge library of classic shows from CBS including Everybody loves Raymond, Frasier, JAG, Judging Amy, Happy Days and MacGyver.

“With something to suit everyone’s viewing tastes, Freeview offers Australians a huge variety of quality programming,” Parkes said

“ELEVEN’s unique programming makes Freeview’s appeal even broader, offering a fantastic range of viewing to choose from – and all for free, the way TV should be,” Parkes said.

Eleven is available in metro locations on channel 11 and in regional areas on channel 55. Viewers who switch to these channels but can’t find ELEVEN should simply retune their TV.
