Chocolate Studios First in Australia to Install Panasonic AG-3DP1G 3D Camcorder

Press Release from Panasonic Australia

Panasonic Business Systems Group Australia has secured one of its most exciting contracts of the year, announcing that Chocolate Studios in Melbourne has installed Australia’s first AG-3DP1G 3D integrated twin-lens camcorder.

Chocolate Studios, a content creation agency offering production, post-production and rental services have invested in the unit for increasingly popular 3D production work, and also to satisfy the rising demand for 3D capable rentals.

Dave Ellis, Managing Director Chocolate Studios, explained that 3D is increasingly desired by clients, and is a format that is really exciting Australian customers at the moment. “We design conference themes and staging production, and find that 3D really engages our clients’ audiences to the next level. From the moment you give out the 3D glasses customers start to get really excited and that is truly what our industry is all about, entertaining audiences.”

“Being a Director of Production for 25 years, I tend to get bored with current technologies quickly and have found it is a huge drawcard to be able to offer our clients the newest and best technology available. We were the first company in Australia to purchase a Digital Betacam camera, the first to purchase an HD camera and now the first to go 3D in a big way with the AG-3DP1G twin-lens 3D camcorder and several 3D editing suites,” said Ellis.

In addition to allowing the company to offer state of the art 3D technology, Ellis also explained that the new system fitted in with Chocolate Studio’s facility really well, giving great value in terms of both capability and cost.

Mathew Alexander, Product Marketing Manager, Broadcast and Professional Video Division, Business Systems Group, Panasonic Australia, explains that the AG-3DP1G’s impressive new lens technology makes it an exciting addition to the Australian marketplace.

“With an HD twin-lens system developed exclusively for the AG-3DP1G, the new camcorder features wide angle and 17x zoom telephoto settings that meet a host of applications for sports, TV series, live events and independent movie production, making it a fantastic new addition to the marketplace. Its high precision lens assembly means it requires no pre-shooting adjustment of the optical axis or angle of view.”

Ellis explained that Chocolate Studios was already looking at purchasing a second system, as initial rental demand for the first unit had proved substantial.

The AG-3DP1G is a 3D integrated twin-lens P2 HD shoulder-mount camcorder with 10 bit, 4:2:2 independent-frame, full 1920 x 1080 resolution AVC-Intra recording. A high-powered twin-lens zoom lens system, high-sensitivity sensors and the high-quality AVC-Intra codec in the 3DP1 enable broadcast-level 3D image acquisition. Its newly-developed 17x twin-lens zoom lens system features an expanded range for both wide-angle and telephoto to fit diverse shooting situations. Focus, zoom and iris adjustments are synchronised accurately for the left and right lenses. The camcorder’s 58mm inter-axial distance allows a broad shooting range of around 1.1m to 30m (approx.)
