Comedy Central orders version of Review with Myles Barlow

Amercian cable channel Comedy Central has greenlit a pilot adaptation of ABC series Review with Myles Barlow, as reported by Deadline.

As in the local series, the half-hour show will be a parody of the traditional review show, with MacNeil rating life experiences, including divorce, the effects of murder and anonymous sex, out of five stars.

The U.S version of the format will be called Review with Forrest MacNeil and will star stand up comedian Andrew Daly in the title role. Daly will also co-write and executive produce alongside Bowling for Columbine producer, Charlie Siskel.

To date, two seasons of Review with Myles Barlow have aired on ABC, in 2008 and 2010 respectively. The most recent season picked up AFI awards for Best Television Comedy Series and Best Performance in a Television Comedy.

Star and creator Phil Lloyd was seen recently seen as  Prime Minister Julia Gillard's partner Tim Mathieson in ABC's four part comedy At Home With Julia.

Review joins fellow ABC comedy Laid as the second program to be sold to the US in recent weeks.

NBC announced it had purchased the format for the six part series – created by Marieke Hardy and Kirsty Fisher – earlier this month.
