[press release from Digital Pictures]

Digital Pictures has announced the appointment of Nicola Gaddes in the newly created role of Digital Cinema Production Manager with responsibility for managing the Company’s recently launched Digital Cinema service.

Nicola brings invaluable experience from working in the UK market to her new role at Digital Pictures. In the UK she spent the past four years with Europe’s leading provider of digital cinema distribution services, Arts Alliance Media where she co-ordinated the first phase of the UK Digital Screen Network which led to the successful installation of 240 digital screens throughout the UK. She was involved in over 300 titles mastered for digital cinema release and co-ordinated the distribution of more than 8,000 digital prints throughout the UK and Europe.

“I was very fortunate to be involved with digital cinema during its start-up phase in the wider European market. Managing the integration of digital cinema systems and then from a client perspective, scheduling, digital content flow and digital mastering, has given me a broad base of experience.

“Managing client relationships is an integral part of the service that we provide at Digital Pictures, which is renowned for its entertainment services worldwide. Combining my skills in digital cinema together with Digital Pictures’ reputation in digital entertainment will deliver a superior service for our clients,” Nicola said.

Nicola’s first digital cinema project at Digital Pictures is “Mary & Max”, a Melodrama Pictures production to be released on April 9 in Australia by Icon Film Distribution. The ground breaking claymation feature by Adam Elliot was post produced at Digital Pictures, including colour grade and film record out to 35mm on their Arri Laser film recorder.

“We’re so excited about this venture and the prospect of having a digital cinema release as well! Since Adam shot on digital stills, it just made so much sense to stay in that realm and preserve the look as much as possible. It really does look amazing,” said Henry Karjalainen, Post Production Producer.

Digital cinema is being recognised as the future of film distribution. Over 40 digital screens have been installed in Australia and with a fast expanding digital cinema market in Asia, Digital Pictures is well positioned to capitalise on its strong position in the entertainment services market.
