Film industry mourns death of John Chataway

By Charlotte Willis

Adelaide-based director, producer, writer and Kojo Group CEO, John Chataway, passed away earlier this month after being diagnosed with leukemia just six weeks prior.

A pillar of the South Australian film community, Chataway had more than 20 years' experience in the events, film, video and new media industries.

“More than anything, John will be deeply missed for the person that he was – optimistic, encouraging and generous, an outstanding man in every sense of the word. He was a good friend and a valued colleague,” SAFC and Bigpond Adelaide Film Festival chair Cheryl Bart said in a statement.

He leaves behind wife Maryanne, his son's Simon and Mark and his stepdaughter Isabella.

Maryanne has described him as "a shooting star, who blasted across the sky…".
