Flickerfest Australia’s only Academy Accredited Short Film Festival heads to 4 more locations this weekend taking in Alice Springs, Broome, Katherine and Margaret River!

This year Flickerfest received a remarkable 2200 entries from which a fabulous collection of around 43 of the most innovative and creative highlights have been handpicked to entertain and amaze audiences across our national tour.

Kicking off the weekend of short film in Alice Springs on Thursday 8th and screening under the stars at the picturesque Olive Pink Botanic Garden, will be The Best Of Comedy- Short Laughs, an hilariously off-kilter comedy programme which Includes Australian Marcus Dineen’s The Winking Boy, winner of the Amsterdam Film Festival 2011 Best Comedy Award and the Las Vegas Film Festival 2011 Best Screenplay award; the psychedelic, Hungarian Don Juan Zoltan: The Hungarian Gangster of Love; the beautifully upbeat musical about finding love from Norway, Baldguy and the much loved Flickerfest SAE Digital Award winner Las Palmas from Sweden.

Also screening across the weekend at all locations and showcasing some amazing Australian filmmaking talents, The Best Of Australian programme includes the politically astute and hilarious, Julian which recently won the Crystal Bear at Berlin Film Festival. Other highlights include the hilarious Fish & Chips; AACTA award winner and Flickerfest Sound Prize Animation winner Nullarbor and Cannes short-listed and winner of Best Direction at Flickerfest 2012 Bear written, directed and starring Nash Edgerton.

Screening in Alice, Broome and Margaret River also is The Best of International Shorts including 2012 Academy Award nominee from Germany, Raju, which follows a couple’s journey to India to collect their adopted child, The ING DIRECT Award Winner for Best Short Film 2012 Ebony Society beautifully directed by Tammy Davies from New Zealand and the hilarious and screw-balled Brick Novax’s Diary winner of Best Short Film at Sundance.
