Four films to premiere under SA desert stars

Four films will have their Australian premiere in the middle of the desert, when they are shown at Shorts Outback in the Flinders Ranges in South Australia on Saturday April 26.
The program includes four Australian premieres, ten South Australian premiers and two winning films from the prestigious UK Rushes Soho Shorts Festival.

Sixteen films will be screened at Shorts Outback, the only event of its kind in Australia, with films shown under the desert stars at Parachilna, while guests enjoy regional delicacies as part of Taste of the Outback.

Films shown are the best of the nation’s early entries for the 2008 Shorts Film Festival, which is to be held in Adelaide in late November, and winning films of the 2007 UK Rushes Soho Shorts Festival. Genres include drama, animation, comedy, claymation and even a musical.

The Shorts Film Festival has a partnership with the prestigious UK Rushes Soho Shorts Festival, which gives Australian filmmakers the chance to have their films showcased in front of an international audience that includes major commercial players in the film and advertising industries.

In a reciprocal arrangement, selected winning films from the UK Rushes Soho Shorts Festival are screened at the Shorts Film Festival and Shorts Outback.

Hosted at the iconic Prairie Hotel, Shorts Outback has been designed to appeal to everyone from the backpacker to the ‘gourmet weekend’ market, with accommodation and dining options to suit all tastes and budgets.

For guests with gourmet tastes, they can book a table for star chef Andrew Fielke’s banquet while they watch the films or alternatively choose dishes from the more casual grazing menu that suits all budgets.
