Fujifilm and Fujinon sponsor ACS State Awards for Cinematography

Press Release from Well Above

Fujifilm and Fujinon is extending its role as Major Sponsor of the Australian Cinematographers Society (ACS) with a special themed sponsorship of the ACS’ State Awards for Cinematography commencing in November 2012.

This year’s ACS awards began with a successful SA and WA State Awards at the Hotel Grand Chancellor on Hindley in Adelaide on Saturday October 27. This month sees the Queensland and Northern Territory Awards on 10 November at The Tivoli in Brisbane, followed on 17 November by the NSW and ACT Awards at The Masonic Centre in Sydney and finally the Victorian and Tasmanian Awards on 24 November at Melbourne’s Victorian Arts Centre.

ACS National President Ron Johanson ACS said, “Fujifilm has been a major sponsor of the ACS for many years and the commitment and support of Marc Van Agten and his team to the society has been invaluable. As part of this year’s sponsorship Fujifilm will also provide each state awards with ongoing sponsorship, branding and also customised bottles of Sake enclosed in a promotional Fujinon Cabrio lens container. As I understand it Fujinon’s new Cabrio lens is very popular amongst ACS members although I’m sure the Sake may turn out to be just as popular, especially after a few bottles. In all seriousness the ACS couldn’t exist without the support of sponsors like Fujifilm so we are eternally grateful to them.”

Fujinon’s PL 19-90 Cabrio (ZK4.7×19) is one of the company’s most successful lenses to date and features an exclusive detachable servo drive unit, making it suitable for use as a standard PL lens or as an ENG-style lens. The ZK4.7×19 also features flange focal distance adjustment, macro function, and is LDS (Lens Data System) and /i metadata compatible. With a 19-90mm focal range and weight of only 2.7kg including servo motors, this lens has the longest focal range available in a lightweight zoom.

Fujifilm Australia General Manager Motion Picture Film, Recording Media and Optical Devices Marc Van Agten said, “We are delighted to be the major sponsors of the ACS and ACS State Awards. The ACS, its members and the awards are vital to the survival and success of the local Australian industry and we are proud to be a part of that.”
