Griff The Invisible gets North American release

By Sam Dallas

Superhero movie Griff the Invisible will be released in North America by new distributor Indomina Releasing, following a successful festival screening in Toronto.

The deal for Leon Ford’s debut feature, starring Ryan Kwanten (True Blood, Red Hill), was negotiated by the distributor's acquisitions vice president Rob Williams and Fortissimo’s senior vice president Winnie Lau on behalf of the filmmakers.

“This is a funny and moving film that will appeal to a wide audience across North America,” Lau said in a statement.

“Both the Fortissimo team and filmmakers are confident the film is in great hands with such [an] innovative distributor as Indomina and audiences across America will all now have the chance to see a film we are all proud to be involved with.”

Griff, produced by Nicole O’Donohue and executive produced by Jan Chapman and Scott Meek, is about an office worker – and superhero – who has his world turned upside when he meets a beautiful young scientist, Melody (Maeve Dermody).

Financed by Screen Australia, Screen NSW and Frame, Set & Match, the film will be released on March 11 in Australia by Paramount/Transmission Films.
