Hulu collars US rights to Hoodlum’s ‘Harrow’

Ioan Gruffudd in ‘Harrow.’

Hoodlum Entertainment’s crime drama Harrow will premiere on Hulu, the US streaming service co-owned by Comcast, Fox and Disney, on September 7.

It’s the second major deal for the series, the first commissioned by Disney’s ABC Studios International, after the UK, where it screens on UKTV’s Alibi Channel. Co-created by Stephen M. Irwin and Leigh McGrath, the series ranks as the top-rating show on Alibi this season and its fourth most popular ever.

The deal with Hulu will include the second and any future series of Harrow, which starred Ioan Gruffudd as forensic pathologist Dr Daniel Harrow, Remy Hii, Mirrah Foulkes, Robyn Malcolm, Ella Newton, Anna Lise Phillips, Darren Gilshenan, Damien Garvey and Hunter Page-Lochard.

Production of the second series of 10 episodes commissioned by the ABC and ABC Studios International will begin next month in Queensland.

Harrow will again be produced by Hoodlum Entertainment’s Tracey Robertson and Nathan Mayfield.

Hulu has more than 20 million subscribers in the US. The Disney division’s second series, crime drama Reef Break starring Poppy Montgomery, was recently picked up by the US ABC network.

ABC Studios International is co-producing with Vicki Madden’s Sweet Potato Films, Fiona McConaghy and 2 Jons’ John Molloy and Jon Adgemis The Gloaming, an 8-part drama about an unorthodox, troubled cop who leads an investigation into the murder of an unidentified woman, commissioned by Stan.
