I Rock begins filming

Press Release from ABC2

I ROCK is a new eight-part, half-hour, drama/comedy about an indie rock band trying to make it big on the Australian music scene, written by Josh Mapleston in association with producers David Fedirchuk and Rob Macdonald.

Leader of the band and the series’ central character, Nash Taylor (Josh Mapleston), is an engaging mix of swagger and arrogance hiding a nerdish vulnerability as he attempts to claw his way to the top of the rock & roll heap.

The tightly plotted stories abound in sex, lies and loads of great original pub rock before culminating in an outrageous climax.

The series will be shot in Sydney’s inner western suburbs.

Starring alongside Josh Mapleston (Nash) is:
Mark Pound (Nash’s brother, Jasper)
Ashley Fitzgerald (Comet, the beautiful, enigmatic bass player)
Jeremy Keast (loveable Luke, the pisshead drummer)
Alison Bell (Nash’s idealistic ex-girlfriend turned music journo, Jane)
Pat Ommundson (Val – Nash’s former lead guitarist and Jane’s new boyfriend)
Kate Sherman (Cara – Comet’s flatmate and front woman for elctro pop band, The Little Ponies).

Executive Producer for ABC TV, Amanda Higgs, says it’s exciting to be working with such a young, talented cast and crew.
“We wanted young, edgy and fresh and we’ve got it with the I ROCK team.”

I ROCK will screen on ABC2 next year.
