Joseph Sims-Dennett unveils horror mystery

Director Joseph Sims-Dennett has screened feature Observance to industry peers as the film approaches the final stages of post-production.

Co-written by Sims-Dennett and Josh Zammit, Observance tails a private investigator watching a woman from the darkness of an abandoned apartment.

“It is an odd thing when the film you’re making starts to resemble your life,” says Sims-Dennett. “Especially when the film is horror.”

The film stars Lindsay Farris (Primal, Bad Behaviour) and Stephanie King (Miss Fisher’s Murder Mysteries), with support from John Jarratt (Wolf Creek, Django Unchained), Roger Ward (Mad Max, Turkey Shoot), Tom O’Sullivan (Underbelly, The Reckoning) and Benedict Hardie (The Water Diviner, The Outlaw Michael Howe). Director of photography is Rodrigo Vidal Dawson.

It is the first project from Sterling Cinema since award-winning Bad Behaviour, which enjoyed an international festival run and secured worldwide distribution.

The film is in post-production with editor Charles Ivory, sound post by Wild Blue and score by SongZu’s Haydn Walker and Adrian Sergovich. Producers are in discussions with sales agents ahead of an anticipated 2014 release.
