Judges named for 2014 My Story My Content competition

IP Awareness and Australian Teachers of Media (ATOM) today announced the judges of the 2014 My Story My Content Short Film Competition.

They are: Sally Caplan – Head of Production at Screen Australia
Category: Tertiary Students (or Equivalent)
Matilda Brown – Actor, writer, director
Category: Secondary Schools/Students
Ben Britton – Face of Nat Geo Wild Australia/NZ and Director of Wild Animal Encounters
Category: Primary Schools/Students

Also joining the judging panel across the three categories are Phyllisse Stanton, CEO, and Louise Lenihan, Marketing and Social Media Manager, for Foxtel community channel, Aurora.

Aurora will screen 2014 My Story My Content winners and finalists after the competition has been judged and the winners announced.

My Story My Content is open to Australian and New Zealand students at all levels and is designed to celebrate the value of local screen content. This year’s theme is ‘Movies … Make a Difference’. See mystorymycontent.com.

First-place prizes include $1000 and a one-year Adobe Creative Cloud membership. Additional prizes include DVD/Blu-ray packs, movie tickets and more.

IP Awareness Executive Director Lori Flekser says: "Last year’s entries confirmed that movies make a difference to our lives. Students told us so with their fantastic films. That is why this year we challenge students to show us how piracy makes a difference to the movie industry. Accessing movies without paying for them impacts significantly on our creative communities, affects the ability of filmmakers to fund future projects and threatens the livelihoods of the hundreds of artists, technicians and specialists that it takes to make them.

"We are thrilled with our judging panel. All of our judges are actively engaged in and making significant contributions to the screen industries. And what an accolade it would be for any aspiring tertiary-level filmmaker to have their short film judged the best entrant by one of Australia’s leading production and development executives, Screen Australia’s Sally Caplan."

The winners will be announced at the 2014 IP Awareness ATOM Awards in October and November in Melbourne.
