Keddie, Corser to play Party Tricks

Asher Keddie and Rodger Corser will star in Party Tricks, a six-part drama series produced by Southern Star Entertainment’s John Edwards and Imogen Banks for Network Ten.

Scripted by Michael Lucas, the series will feature Keddie as Kate Ballard, an ambitious politician who aims to become the State’s next State Premier.

Her victory seems assured until a popular TV and radio personality, David McLeod (Corser), is selected as leader of the Opposition. As the drama unfolds, it’s revealed that several years earlier Kate and David had a secret, tumultuous affair. The cat-and-mouse game culminates in an election night showdown.

Screen Australia agreed to invest in the production along with Film Victoria. It will air on Ten in 2014. Southern Star’s parent Endemol Worldwide Distribution will represent the series internationally.

The agency is also  investing in Love Child, a Nine Network drama series set in Kings Cross in 1969, starring Jonathan LaPaglia, Jessica Marais and Mandy McElhinney, produced by Playmaker Media.

The children's series that received Screen Australia funding are Southern Star Entertainment's In Your Dreams 2  for the Seven Network; Gristmill's mockumentary Little Lunch for ABC3; and Jonathan M Shiff Productions'  Mako Island of Secrets 2 for Network Ten.
