Kojo web developers prepare for new retail app technology

Press release from Gray Management Group

Retailers in Australia will soon have new ways to entice customers into their stores with a little help from new app technology, dare they embrace it.

Web developers at KOJO are preparing for a surge in the development and use of app technology that is set to revolutionise the retail sector by providing new ways for consumers to shop.

KOJO Senior Developer, Tom Longo says, “Some of these advances include giving app users the ability to order and pay for a product, then collect it in-store within the hour.”

For back-orders and products that require altering or customising, such as engravings, push notifications will become commonplace as a means of communicating to customers when products are ready for collection.

“But perhaps the most revolutionary is the ability for app users to scan an item on the shelf, enabling automatic payment, then simply walk out with the product,” Tom says.

These capabilities will most likely only be available in the US at first, but it will only be a matter of time before they hit Australian shores.

It’s not the first time retailers have used apps as a companion to physical stores. Supermarket retailers Coles and Woolworths have had apps out for some time that allow their customers to browse items from their phone and even locate which isle they’re in, and eBay is widely used as a secondary income stream for many shop owners.

“It’s a smart retailer who can see the web and mobile apps not as a threat, but rather an opportunity to enhance their customers’ shopping experience,” says Tom.
