Cottesloe Films is overwhelmed with the response it has received to its musical short film – Library of Love – as internationally renowned artists Emma Booth and Guy Gross offer their support.
The film’s crowdfunding campaign (www.pozible.com/libraryoflove) launched earlier this week, reaching its initial goal of $10,000 within three days. The team is now aiming to reach $15,000 to enable the use of real musicians.
Library of Love is an 11-minute musical romantic comedy written and co-directed by Miranda Edmonds and Khrob Edmonds.
According to Miranda, the team is “overwhelmed at the support Library of Love has received. It shows the generosity of the Western Australian community to the arts and the power of the MATCH funding scheme.”
Emma Booth (Parker, Underbelly,) was the first person to contribute to the Library of Love’s campaign, securing her position as an Executive Producer. The AFI awardwinning and Logie nominated actress also starred in the team’s 2014 short film, Tango Underpants.
Guy Gross is one of Australia's leading film and television composers, and was the composer on Tango Underpants.
In addition, the team is delighted that Emma Fletcher (Blue Dog, Drift, The Turning) has signed on as Production Designer, and that world-renowned photographers Ian + Erick Regnard are onboard as stills photographers.
Earlier this week, the film’s producers announced the attachment of three exceptional Australian actors – Trilby Glover, Andrew McFarlane and Ben Mortley.
Glover is best known for her work in the Emmy-nominated miniseries The Starter Wife (with Debra Messing), Crash (with Dennis Hopper) and the feature film Righteous Kill alongside Robert De Niro and Al Pacino.
One of Australia's hardest working actors, McFarlane is well known for his roles in The Flying Doctors, The Sullivans, Division 4 and Patrol Boat, and more recently A Place to Call Home, Devil's Playground, The Alice, Neighbours, Underbelly, Janet King, Love Child and Play School to name only a few.
Mortley is best known for iconic Australian films Lantana and Dingo; however it was his Lothario role in McLeod’s Daughters that earned him a Logie Award nomination.
Library of Love tells the story of Isabelle – a librarian and hopeless romantic, who spends her days reading romance novels and dreaming of true love. But can she can pull her nose out of the books long enough to find love in the real world?
The film is supported by Creative Partnerships Australia through MATCH. As a federally-funded matched funding program, MATCH will double every dollar raised up to $10,000.
It will to be shot entirely in Western Australia and produced by Estelle Buzzard (The Lifeguard, Missing Pieces), Maya Kavanagh and Meg McPherson.
