Press Release from Mango Distribution

Mango Distribution, a new children’s and family distribution company, focussing on the Asia, Australia and New Zealand territories is set to launch at the Mip Junior conference in Cannes on the 3rd October.

A joint venture between Philippines based production house, Top Draw Animation and Australian kids television producer, Sticky Pictures, Mango Distribution will operate from offices in Manila, New York and Sydney.

The Mango Distribution team bring years of experience in the children’s industry internationally. Heading up the company will be Top Draw’s Wayne Dearing and Sticky Pictures Donna Andrews, who will also act as Mango’s sales agent for New Zealand and Australia. For Asia, Mango has enlisted the talent of experienced Sales Manager, Kerry Novick, who will bring 14 years of experience in the Asian marketplace.

New from the company is Pearlie, a 26 x 24 minute urban fairy tale animated comedy based on the best-selling books by comedienne, Wendy Harmer. Targeted to kids aged 6 to 10, Pearlie is a co-production between Sticky Pictures (Australia) and Nelvana (Canada).

It has already been presold to Network Ten and Nickelodeon in Australia as well as YTV Canada.

Mango also represents US Emmy Award winning preschool series, WordWorld. The 26 x 24 minute series is targeted to preschoolers and is a co-production between PBS Kids and the US Department of Education. WordWorld introduces preschoolers to the wonderful world of reading, where words come alive.

WordWorld has been sold into Asia to Playhouse Disney channels throughout the region including Southeast Asia (including the Taiwan feed), Australia, and New Zealand. In addition, public broadcaster Educational Broadcasting System (EBS) in Korea has taken free TV, IPTV, and DVD rights.

Mango is also touting the highly anticipated Invisible Network of Kids (or I.N.K. for short). This 26 x 24 minute action/comedy series, about a secret kid network built to protect their school, targets kids 6-10 years old. I.N.K. is a co-production between Samka Productions (France) and France 3.

“This is a very exciting time for Mango Distribution. Our philosophy of “Unique Characters, Engaging Stories and Incredible Design” shines through in the three shows we are representing at MIPCOM, and we look forward to sharing them with the Asia-Pacific territories”, said Mango Distribution’s Sales Manager, Kerry Novick.

“Mango Distribution is looking for the right properties and partners to expand our library. We look forward to discussing new and exciting projects with the production community at MIPCOM”, said Mango Company Director Donna Andrews.
