Melbourne WebFest rewards Australian web content creators

Melbourne WebFest will open on Friday with the world premier of 3×3 The Immersive Fiction as part of a gala night event.

Melbourne WebFest is Australia’s international web series festival for web based content creators.

3×3 The Immersive Fiction is an interactive and immersive digital platform created by French transmedia production company, TreeCircle.

The WebFest program will showcase the best web series from around the globe. 

Festival director, Steinar Ellingsen, said the team at MWF were all very excited to be opening the festival with the launch of such a cutting edge and dynamic platform.

Opening night takes place on July 10 at Deakin Edge.

It features a keynote presentation from Connor Van Vuuren and Nick Boshier, two of the creators of Bondi Hipsters and Soul Mates.

Other opening night highlights include the premiere of Melbourne WebFest Presents and a sneak peek from a new documentary series, Magnify Melbourne, with an episode produced in collaboration with La Trobe University students 

The winner of the Grand Jury Award will receive paid trips to LA WebFest and Marseille WebFest with automatic automatic entry into both festivals, in addition to entry into Rome WebFest, K WebFest and WebFest Montreal. 

The winner of the iview Award will be offered acquisition to the ABC’s iview platform. 

The winner of the inaugural Innovation Award will be offered free advice and consultation with transmedia company, TreeCircle Media’s graphic artists and developers, to create an interactive interface for their series on the TreeCircle platform — with the view to help the winner distribute their series on a range of platforms and devices.
