Metro Screen welcomes new president and board members

Metro Screen is pleased to welcome five new directors to its board; Jarod Green, Claire Morgan, Emma Moroney, Kath Shelper and Louise Smith. They join existing board members Brad Cooke, Michael Easton, Ian Gardiner, Grant Logan, Eloise Schnierer, Cate Smith and Chris Winter.

“We are delighted to have people of such experience and expertise joining the Metro Screen team.” said Christina Alvarez, Metro Screen’s CEO. “The newest members of our board will be enormously valuable in guiding the continued success of Metro Screen.”

At the Board Meeting on 31 May, Kath Shelper was elected President and Eloise Schnierer was elected Vice-President. They join Treasurer, Grant Logan, on the Metro Screen executive.

Metro Screen farewells longstanding President, Marcus Gillezeau and board members Liz Watts and Sharon Connolly. The board expressed great thanks for their invaluable contribution with particular gratitude extended to Marcus Gillezeau for his guidance and generosity over the past nine years with Metro Screen.

KATH SHELPER – PRESIDENT: Kath is a film producer. Her most recent production is Beck Cole’s first feature ‘Here I Am’, which has just opened in cinemas. Kath also produced Warwick Thornton’s feature film ‘Samson & Delilah’ which won the Cannes Film Festival Camera d’Or in 2009.

JAROD GREEN: Jarod is a partner of the Sydney-based social media strategy and content company, Radical Love. In 2010 he helped pioneer a new social-broadcast distribution model with ABC TV for the hugely successful series ‘Beached Az’.

CLAIRE MORGAN: Claire is an adult education professional who is passionate about life-long learning and innovative program delivery. Claire held the position of Learning and Development Manager at Metro Screen from 2006 to 2010 before leaving to teach literacy and ESL in two Sydney prisons.

EMMA MORONEY: Emma is the Supervising Producer at Movie Network Channels, part of Foxtel/Austar, where she most recently developed and commissioned comedy drama series ‘Small Time Gangster’. With a particular interest in the multiplatform media environment, in 2010 Emma launched Movie Extra Webfest to help encourage emerging filmmakers into the online content space.

LOUISE SMITH: Louise Smith has been working in the production of television commercials and feature films for more than fifteen years. She has collaborated extensively with directing talents Nash and Joel Edgerton, with their latest feature film 'The Square' receiving seven AFI Award nominations.
