MIFF appoints Dorrington as manager

Press release from Limelight PR

The Melbourne International Film Festival is pleased to announce today that Petrina Dorrington has been appointed as the Festival General Manager.

Petrina has been employed as the interim General Manager since February 2010. Her extensive management experience across a wide range of high profile organisations will no doubt be a solid foundation to lead the festival into its 60th year in 2011.

Petrina has over fifteen years experience working as a CEO, across government and not-for-profit organisations. She was CEO of the Inland Queensland Tourism and Development Board before transforming the Melbourne-based not-for-profit Kids Under Cover, from a one-person operation to a thriving company with over ten staff operating in Victoria and Queensland.

Petrina Dorrington today said of the appointment:

“I’ve been attending MIFF as a member for a number of years, so I’m excited about working for an event I’m passionate about. I’m greatly looking forward to the rewards and challenges of working on such a prestigious and world renowned festival”.

“The board is thrilled that Petrina has accepted the position. In the last few months as MIFF’s interim General Manager, Petrina has proven herself an outstanding manager with excellent business development skills. We are confident that she will be a great asset to the festival and to its staff,” said Chair of the MIFF Board, Claire Dobbin.

As the General Manager, Petrina will participate in the appointment of the Artistic Director. This appointment will not be announced until after the 2010 Festival.
