Director Wayne Blair’s feature Top End Wedding will kick off production early next year, with Miranda Tapsell to star.
Tapsell, who also penned the script with Joshua Tyler (Plonk), was one the leads in Blair’s debut feature, The Sapphires.
A romantic comedy, Top End Wedding will be produced by Goalpost Pictures, with whom Blair has a long-standing creative partnership spanning The Djarn Djarns, The Sapphires and Cleverman.
It follows Lauren, a successful Sydney lawyer and her fiancée Ned. Engaged and in love, they have just 10 days to find Lauren’s mother who has gone AWOL somewhere in the Northern Territory, reunite her parents and pull off their dream ‘Top End Wedding’.
The producers are Goalpost’s Rosemary Blight and Kylie du Fresne, and Kojo Entertainment’s Kate Croser. Glen Condie and Ben Grant will executive produce.
Top End Wedding has received production investment from Screen Australia, the South Australian Film Corporation and Tourism NT.
eOne will handle ANZ distribution, with Berlin-based Films Boutique handling international sales.
