Movie Extra Webfest Winner announced

Press release from Movie Extra

Movie Network Channels are thrilled to announce Henry Inglis and Aaron McCann as the winners of the inaugural Movie Extra Webfest for their submission, Henry & Aaron’s Perfectly Adequate Webisode Series.

Their series was judged the winner of the competition which was conducted entirely on facebook.

Henry and Aaron have won a $50,000 production budget to now produce their series in seven part webisodes for MOVIE EXTRA which will premiere online via Movie Networks website and video platform at www.mnc.tv.

Henry & Aaron’s Perfectly Adequate Webisode Series follows a mismatched pair of best friends who host a daily podcast. Henry is an aloof, liberal-minded slob who uses their podcasts as a soap box for his scattered left-wing activism, while Aaron is a hot tempered, obnoxious Irishman who doesn’t know when to shut up. An ex-radio producer discovers their podcasts and is determined to turn the boys into global internet superstars, whether they like it or not.

Henry and Aaron both hail from WA and have worked on numerous film projects including, short film, feature film and documentaries.

Their work has been selected at several film festivals and received awards. The multi-talented duo wrote, acted and produced the Movie Extra Webfest winning pitch.

The Movie Extra Webfest winning entries were chosen from over 100 submissions to the facebook page, which attracted 14,843 fans* and received more than 95,000 votes since its launch on 30 July 2010.

The finalist trailers were assessed using a scoring and commentary system that took into account the creative and production values of the 60 second trailer, the creator’s storytelling ability and standard of writing and the webseries’ appeal to the Movie Extra audience, as well as the number of facebook votes generated.

In addition, entrants were encouraged to carry out promotional activity to support their submissions and to utilise the inherent cross platform suitability of the competition.

The winners were selected by a panel of industry judges including; Gyton Grantley (Webfest Ambassador), Marc Fennell (ABC’s Hungry Beast), Emma Moroney (Movie Network Channels Supervising Producer) and Christopher Berry (Movie Extra Webfest Executive Producer).
