Needle selected for British Horror Film Festival

Fresh from its successful US Premiere in Los Angeles at Screamfest 2010, where Needle became the first WA film to win a “Golden Skull” award (Best Horror Make-up EFX), Filmscope Entertainment is pleased to announce that the movie has been officially selected for competition at the British Horror Film Festival to be held in Bournemouth, United Kingdom on the 30th of October, 2010.

Needle has been nominated for a slew of awards including Best Feature, Best Director, Best Cinematography, Best Special Effects and Best Producer.
Filmed in Perth, Needle features the cream of Australian acting talent including Jessica Marais (Packed to the Rafters), Michael Dorman (Daybreakers, Triangle), Trilby Glover (Righteous Kill), Tahyna Tozzi (Wolverine), Travis Fimmel (The Beast, The Valley), Ben Mendolsohn (Animal Kingdom), Khan Chittenden (West), John Jarratt (Wolf Creek) and Jane Badler (V).

Needle, a supernatural murder mystery, is about a killer who uses an 18th century machine with supernatural powers to terrorize students at a local college.

The Producer of Needle, Deidre Kitcher, is happy with the result saying, “The UK film industry produces many high quality horror films and to be selected for the British Horror Film Festival amongst such strong competition is a credit to the hard work and vision of our team”.

Needle was directed by John V. Soto, who co-wrote the script with fellow genre specialist Anthony Egan. Needle has already notched up International Sales in Germany, Austria, Brazil, Mexico, South Africa, Indonesia, India and the Middle-East and will be released in Australia in the first half of 2011.

Negotiations are underway for the sale of the US and UK rights to Needle.

The film is rated MA and has a running time of approximately 90mins.
