New era of Screen Australia has begun

Screen Australia, the new single agency to serve the film and television production industry, commenced operations July 1.

With offices in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane, the new organisation brings together the teams from Film Australia, Australian Film Commission and Film Finance Corporation to create a single agency providing development, production and marketing funding for the film and television production community.

The Chairman of Screen Australia, Mr Glen Boreham, today said, “We are looking forward to new focus and a unified vision for the film and television production community.”

“We believe this fully integrated agency will streamline processes for practitioners and ensure our creative community gets the most value from the funds provided by Government,” Glen said.

Interim CEO Lyn Maddock, who has been working with the three agencies for the past three months, says the new interim structure and appointments will mean the existing programs will continue until the board and new CEO have developed the permanent structure and make the appropriate appointments later this year.

“It has been my aim to achieve a united organisation and structure by today to ensure the staff of the organisations know how their roles and programs fit together in this interim period,” said Lyn Maddock today.

“I am very grateful to all those who have worked so diligently to get us to this launch day and feel confident the programs will continue to assist the industry.”

The interim management structure sees Ms Maddock remain in the interim CEO position with Chris Fitchett as Executive Director of Production Support and Investment, Tait Brady as Executive Director of Marketing Support and Promotion and Fiona Cameron in the position of Director of Strategy and Operations. Simon Konecny has taken the role of Head of Legal Affairs and Catherine Waters and Alex Sangston will rotate in the role of Head of the Producer Offset and Co-production.

Screen Australia contact details and links to all the continuing programs of the three former agencies can be found at www.screenaustralia.gov.au from 1 July.
