New podcast Anatomy interviews Australian creatives

A new podcast, Anatomy, interviews Australian creators to deconstruct their process and find out what inspires them.

In recent episodes, Ryan Shelton has talked about his Instagram series Cliff, and Zan Rowe has talked about her work with ABC iView’s The Critics.

The podcast has been music industry-heavy so far, but producer Ben Newton tells IF the team "certainly plans on featuring more screen creators. We got our start focussing on the music industry but our roots are in film and video production and that's where our passion lies".

"We have a series of industry-focussed episodes in the works, we just released an artist management episode and we have a music video-focussed episode due soon."

Anatomy originally started as a documentary project, not a podcast.

"We wanted to create a series of short, music-themed documentaries called Anatomy of a Song", Newton said. (The pilot can be seen here).

"The podcast was designed to be a companion piece for the TV episodes".

After encouraging feedback from Screen Australia and the ABC Arts iView team, the show ultimately wasn’t picked up, but the team continued to record episodes and the podcast has been climbing the local iTunes charts.

"We’re still the new kids on the block so most people don’t know who we are", Newton said. "But we’re getting there!"
