Not Quite Hollywood to be released on DVD

[Press Release by Madman]

"The best documentary ever! Run to see it!" – Edgar Wright (Director of Shaun Of The Dead and Hot Fuzz)

Madman Entertainment proudly presents Not Quite Hollywood on DVD – the hilarious, fast-paced, balls-to-the-wall story of the glory days of Australian exploitation cinema.

Starring Quentin Tarantino – a self confessed Australian cinema fanatic, who based Kill Bill character “The Bride” on Aussie cult classic Patrick – Not Quite Hollywood also features Dennis Hopper, famed for taking his imbibed ‘method’ acting to new extremes in Mad Dog Morgan, plus local heroes Barry Humphries, Sigrid Thornton, Graeme Blundell, prolific filmmaker Brian Trenchard-Smith and death-defying stuntman Grant Page. Not Quite Hollywood is a riotous, warts and all celebration of Australia’s tenacity, showmanship and sense of adventure through film.

Hot on the heels of sold-out screenings and acclaim from around the globe, including Hawaii, Helsinki, Leeds, Dublin, Toronto, Texas, Spain, Cologne, Warsaw, London and the American Film Institute in Los Angeles, Not Quite Hollywood comes to DVD as an extensive 2-disc set; featuring over an hour of deleted scenes and extended interviews – including a conversation with Quentin Tarantino and Brian Trenchard-Smith; an audio commentary with director Mark Hartley and some of the film’s participants, an audio interview with Richard Franklin, a trailer reel of featured Ozploitation films and much, much more.

Take a trip back to the days when cinema was uncensored, stunts were real and Picnic At Hanging Rock wasn’t the only film displaying an abundance of bush. Whether you’re new to the genre, or remember fondly the day Alvin Purple steamed up cinema screens, or Mad Max was just a small-scale indie flick; Not Quite Hollywood is an unashamed thrill from start to finish. A rip-snorting romp through the underbelly of Australiana – packed full of boobs, tubes… and a bit of kung-fu; it’ll surely give Christmas gift-giving a swift boot up the backside too!

Now see the films that inspired it!
To celebrate the release of Not Quite Hollywood on DVD, Madman is also releasing a collection of Brian Trenchard-Smith’s Ozploitation classics on Dec 5. The collection includes The Man From Hong Kong, Dead End Drive-In, Deathcheaters and Stunt Rock. Each title has been remastered for DVD and feature new special features, such as audio commentaries, deleted scenes, and more.

The highly anticipated dvd release of ‘the wild, untold story of Ozploitation’ – will be available Dec 5 from all leading DVD retailers ($34.94SRP).
