Oz actor lands the lead in US indie thriller

Laurence Fuller is playing the lead in Road to the Well, a psychological thriller that starts shooting Friday US time on locations between Los Angeles and Lake Tahoe.

A finalist for this year’s Heath Ledger Scholarship, Fuller’s character is Frank, a young guy who is unhappy in his job and in his relationship with his cheating girlfriend.

When he picks up a young woman for a hook-up in his car, she's knifed to death by a mysterious assailant. Fearing he will go down for murder, Frank turns to his friend Jack (Micah Parker) to help dispose of the body.

Jack may be more closely connected to this seemingly random crime than Frank initially realises. Barak Hardley plays Chris, another friend.

The film marks the feature debut of writer/director Jon Cvack, who is a content manager at Maker Studios, the YouTube multi-channel network which Disney bought this year in a deal which could be worth up to $950 million.

Fuller trained at the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School and after graduating in 2007 performed on stage in the West End in Madness In Valencia.

His screen credits include Apostle Peter and the Last Supper, which starred Robert Loggia, Mother & Brother and the ABC telemovie Possession(s) with Asher Keddie and Max Culllen.

“The script completely blew me away with how personal, honest and philosophical the film’s ultimate messages were, tied together with a long standing friendship between these three guys,” Fuller said.

“Each scene is like a little haiku which, when pieced together, builds to a message about life that is very unconventional and at its core, humanist.”

Fuller is represented in the US by Scott Fish at Velocity Entertainment Partners and Nathan Habben at Prestige Talent Agency and in Australia by Claudine Kermond at Kermond Management.
