Packed To The Rafters’ Jessica Marais part of live script read:Reynolds’ Cargo

Press release from Cockatoo Film Festival

Hot on the heels of Josh Lawson’s very successful reading of The Little Death comes Cockatoo Island Film Festival’s next In The Raw live script read, Reynolds’ Cargo. With all the traits of a Hollywood epic, Reynolds’ Cargo is the debut screenplay from award winning writer Carolyn Anderson and is based on the true story of a disgraced Australian naval captain who collaborates with a Chinese opium pirate to rescue a group of British women and children as Singapore falls in WWII. This heroic tale will be told on the 15th of March by a stellar Australian cast, led by Packed To The Rafters favourite Jessica Marais.

With its strong maritime theme, historic context and the recent 70th year commemoration of the fall of Singapore, there is no better time or place to bring this international story to audiences on spectacular Cockatoo Island.
