Passengers takes a journey to Dungog

Press release from Dungog Film Festival

Passengers the debut feature film from Michael Bond and Cameron Daddo will have its Australian premiere at the 2010 Dungog Film Festival. The film, which had its world premiere at the Mill Valley Film Festival in San Francisco, stars Aussie expats Daddo and Angie Milliken; film, television and theatre veteran Bruce Davison and newcomer Patty Yu.

Cameron Daddo, an iconic figure in our entertainment industry for over 20 years and Michael Bond, who has penned numerous feature scripts, TV pilots and short films, will fly in from Los Angeles and head straight to Dungog for the first Australian screening of their film.

“It's a real privilege to be in the line up for Dungog; I can't think of anywhere I'd rather have our Australian Premiere” said Michael.

Passengers, described as an ‘Aussie movie set in Los Angeles’, is based on a married Australian couple living in Los Angeles, who set out from their home in Santa Monica to meet friends for dinner in Hollywood. Naturally they hit traffic and by the time they arrive their marriage is over. Michael Bond, originally from Western Australia, who wrote, directed and co-produced this dramatic feature film said: “Passengers tells a unique Australian story, the story of the ex-pat, the modern-day Aussie battler who heads overseas to make his fame and fortune. I was determined to delve into the dirty
laundry and real-life pressures of this often romanticised adventure of Australians heading off to Hollywood.”

In their first film project together, Cameron Daddo tells of the meeting with Bond when Passengers came to fruition. “I shared with Michael my desire to tell a story about ex-patriots, the promises, the expectations, the pressures that people face as they uproot and move away from their comfort zones… three days later he delivered Passengers to my front door. I am excited and honored to have the Australian Premiere of Passengers at the Dungog Film
Festival” Said Cameron Daddo.

The Dungog Film Festival will run from 27-30 May and will showcase the biggest content of Australian film in the world. Tickets to this vibrant, unique Australian film festival are now on sale through Ticketmaster at www.ticketmaster.com.au.
