Presto TV snags Modern Family

Presto TV has secured exclusive streaming rights to evergreen sitcom Modern Family as part of a wide-ranging deal with 20th Century Fox.

The first four seasons of the show starring Ed O’Neill, Julie Bowen, Ty Burrell, Sofia Vergara, Jesse Tyler Ferguson and Eric Stonestreet are available now on the SVOD platform co-owned by Foxtel and Seven West Media.

Series 5, which includes an episode shot in Australia last year, will premiere on Presto TV in the second half of this year.

The Fox deal also includes non-exclusive rights to Homeland, Sons of Anarchy, American Horror Story, The Americans, Glee, Louie and library titles The X-Files, Rosewell, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel and My Name is Earl..

Presto TV has been overshadowed by a recent blizzard of acquisitions announced by rivals Stan and Netflix, which launches on March 24, but Presto executives say further deals are in the works.

Apart from sourcing shows from Foxtel and Seven it has deals, mostly non-exclusive, with HBO, Showtime, CBS Studios International, Viacom International Media Networks, Hasbro Studios and ABC Commercial.

Currently Presto is currently offering customers a free 30 day trial of Presto Movies and Presto TV.  Thereafter customers can choose between Presto TV or Presto Movies for $9.99 a month or both for $14.99 a month.
