Pukeko Pictures names new CEO

Pukeko Pictures has appointed of Clive Spink as its new chief executive.

He will replace Andrew Smith, who will be leaving in August to take up the position of chief executive of Touchtech, a Wellington's software company.

Spink has been with Pukeko Pictures for over a year in the position of chief operating officer.

He will take up the role of chief executive from August 1.

In his new role he will continue to drive Pukeko Pictures' business growth including its development and production momentum, according to a company statement.

Prior to Pukeko Pictures, Spink led the commercial team responsible for all of Vodafone New Zealand’s enterprise customers.

He was also the finance director for Unisys New Zealand and also had time running their Australian commercial team.

Spink's broadcasting and production experience stems from time at Television New Zealand working for their local production company Kotuku Productions which produced iconic New Zealand brands including Fair Go, Country Calendar, Crimewatch and Holiday.

Following this, Spink was the Commercial Manager at TVNZ’s TV One.

Pukeko Pictures found and director, Sir Richard Taylor, said Spink had demonstrated a considerable understanding of the local and international business landscape.

"We are thrilled to see him transition into the role of chief executive officer," he said.

"Clive will be instrumental in driving the business forward and ensuring our production presence locally and internationally.

"It is also a sad time for Pukeko Pictures as we say farewell to Andrew.

"Starting with his first role with Weta Workshop in 1997, Andrew has made a tremendous contribution to the Weta Workshop/Pukeko Pictures fold for the past 18 years.

"Pukeko Pictures initially commenced as an initiative within Weta Workshop and latterly as a standalone entity.

"In his time with Pukeko Pictures Andrew has been instrumental in positioning the company as a producer of high quality and globally relevant content.  We wish him the best in his next endeavours” said Sir Richard Taylor, Founder and Director of Pukeko Pictures.

Spink said he was looking forward to furthering relationships with local and international partners and broadcasters.

"It is an exciting time to be at Pukeko Pictures and I am committed to continue delivering the world class content our company has become globally known for in the pre-school, kids and family and drama spaces."
