REMINDER! GOOD PITCH2 AUSTRALIA SUBMISSIONS CLOSE IN 3 WEEKS

PRESS RELEASE

A reminder for all filmmakers that submissions for GOOD PITCH² AUSTRALIA – the international forum for social impact documentaries – close on April 11.

You have just three weeks to let us know about your outstanding film and why it should be chosen for GOOD PITCH² AUSTRALIA!

GOOD PITCH² AUSTRALIA will be held for the first time in Australia on October 8, 2014 at the Sydney Opera House.

GOOD PITCH² connects the world's best social impact films with new allies and partners. GOOD PITCH² AUSTRALIA is calling out for outstanding documentaries that can be used as a powerful medium at the heart of local, national and international campaigns with the purpose of making a sustainable difference.

GOOD PITCH² brings together documentary filmmakers with foundations, not-for-profits, campaigners, philanthropists, policy-makers, brands, educators, broadcasters and media to forge powerful alliances around ground breaking films that are good for all these partners, good for the films and good for society.

Seven feature-length documentary projects will be chosen to present GOOD PITCH² AUSTRALIA.

What we are looking for:
• Outstanding films that tackle a significant social issue or have something important to show us about the world and ourselves
• Films of any style – personal, observational, essays, presenter-led, verité
• Films across a range of genres (eg. social justice and human rights, environmental, arts and history)
• Films at any stage from early production to completion and even early festival circuit; although rough cut stage is ideal
• Films of 60+ minutes in length

Projects are distinguished by their commitment to building a community engagement and outreach strategy.

Once the final seven projects are determined, the GOOD PITCH² AUSTRALIA team will work intensively with the selected filmmakers to further develop the funding and impact strategy for each project and filmmakers will attend development, pitching and campaign workshops with local and international partners.

Filmmakers will need to submit a trailer or key sequence from their film plus a 2-minute video telling the GOOD PITCH² AUSTRALIA team why they want to make their film and what they want it to achieve. The application guidelines are at: www.goodpitch2australia.com.au.

GOOD PITCH is a partnership between BRITDOC and Sundance Documentary Film Program, and has been gaining momentum since the first international event in 2009.

The rights to host the satellite event GOOD PITCH² AUSTRALIA have been secured locally by Shark Island Institute and the Documentary Australia Foundation.
