Announcement from Screen Australia

Amree Hewitt joined Screen Australia in June as a Development Manager, Feature and Professional Development. She will be working with the Development team in Melbourne, contracted for six months until December 2010.

Amree has been an external consultant for FFC/Screen Australia Feature Film Production Investment since 2004. With a background in exhibition and distribution her experience includes script analysis for pre-sale investment for Australian distributors, script editing and film research – working with individual independent filmmakers and production companies.

With former arthouse distributor Premium Films, Amree ran the Capitol in Melbourne as their repertory cinema and she has also acquired films and non-theatrical rights as Collection Development Manager for Australia’s National Film & Video Collection (now managed by the NFSA).

She has been a senior programmer for the Melbourne International Film Festival and more recently for the Australian Centre for the Moving Image, curating retrospectives and negotiating first releases. Amree has worked for the British Film Institute’s National Film Theatre in London, for the Australian Film Institute’s Research Collection and in production as a Script Supervisor.
